Where We Are Now

After finding and remediating mold twice in our Colorado home, we abandoned ship in October 2008. Because of the high levels of exposure, our entire family was affected. After months of seeing different specialists for all of the problems, we came to Arizona to begin comprehensive treatment to rid our bodies of the toxic buildup. In August 2009 we moved into a larger home, four bedrooms, south of Tucson, north of Mexico. I am doing my daily radio program/ writing from that location. Thanks for praying for us. We really feel it.

Someone wrote me today and said, "That you're still broadcasting has to be a God thing." I agree. There have been so many obstacles to getting on the air each day, but that's part of the struggle, I guess.

In my driveway right now, with the blessing of the homeowner's association (only until the end of January), there sits a camper. And in that camper is all the worldly goods I have to broadcast and record my program. And in the midst of hooking up the equipment Monday, I realized that the ISDN unit, the thing that gets my lovely voice into the phone line and out the other side in Chicago, did not power up. I tried everything I know to do and it just didn't work.

Now, either in the cleaning process it was damaged, or in the cold (but I don't think the temperature affects those boxes), or there was some little imp who thought it would thwart our purposes who tweaked a diode or two.

Well, it looks like I won't be braodcasting from that lovely camper today, but I'm not giving up, especially with the subject matter we are to discuss. Read the next blog if you want to know what it's about.

I don't know when or if I will be able to broadcast from the van down by the driveway, but I promise you it will be memorable.

I don't know what to say Chris, but hang in there. God loves you! I find your perseverence during this struggle in your life amazing, but I also know that it is your Heavenly Father that weaves those beautiful treads for His glory who is there beside you giving you the strength and endurance. Know that you and your family are loved.

You promised a picture! After your vivid description of all it took to park the van, you know we all want to see it!

Remember that one trip in Germany when we had about a dozen people jammed into the Boldts' van?

Hi Chris, I'm Rick Harris a 26 year old Child of God, Follower of Christ, husband, father and a small business owner from Birmingham, AL. Your post "In a Van By the Driveway" reminds me of the book I'm currently reading, The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. In fact your entire situation like many of our situations, reminds of the patient in this book. Keep in mind in chapter 4 Mr. Lewis reveals a sobering truth, " Whenever we are attending to the God the imps or Satan are defeated, but they create their ways of preventing us to do so, it is the simplest of ways, they want us to gaze away from Christ, and look towards ourselves. Don't take your eyes off of Christ, Chris, this incident may be subtle but little things can misdirect you in large ways.

I second the motion on the picture--this is a unique moment in radio history, and it needs to be recorded for posterity! :-)

We have a second on the motion. All in favor, say "Aye".

You've come full circle-- I seem to recall that your early broadcasting career at Moody involved another mobile studio-- a van on the mall in Washington, DC with 100 degree heat. With the inauguration coming up, maybe you could re-create the scene with your new studio, although it might be a bit cooler this time.
