Where We Are Now

After finding and remediating mold twice in our Colorado home, we abandoned ship in October 2008. Because of the high levels of exposure, our entire family was affected. After months of seeing different specialists for all of the problems, we came to Arizona to begin comprehensive treatment to rid our bodies of the toxic buildup. In August 2009 we moved into a larger home, four bedrooms, south of Tucson, north of Mexico. I am doing my daily radio program/ writing from that location. Thanks for praying for us. We really feel it.

I was getting beat at chess by my 11 year old. My nightly humiliation. I always lose my rook in the right corner. And then he says, "You didn't see that?"

Two guys outside with the telltale binder and a flyer. Will you give? Will you support? I don't like to encourage this kind of thing, but when they said they were with Teen Challenge, I took the flyer. It's a good ministry.

Sigh. I didn't have much cash. I have less now because I told them to wait, went inside and came back out and filled out the little card and wished them well.

The younger one said, "Pardon me for asking, but your neighbor over on the other street said a famous Christian author lived here."

I laughed. Crazy neighbors. I told them to wait. A couple of days ago I received a few boxes of copies of my new novel, Borders of the Heart, set in Tucson. I handed them the copies and they thanked me. I shook their hands and bid them a good night.

I sat down on the couch. A handful of pawns left. My King and a horsie and a bishop.

The doorbell rang again.

"Sorry to bother you, but we wanted to see if you would autograph it."

Steve and Morgan were their names. I hope they like the story. I hope my small investment will pay dividends down the road.

You know, Chris, the one thing I most appreciate about you is that you are so real and genuine. You have the gift of being able to bring a godly perspective to everyday life. I, for one, need to have that reinforced in my life. May the Father continue to bless you, your family and your ministry. Suzanne

Chris! Love your radio show...listen almost everyday at work. Such great insight. How funny that two guys from teen challenge knocked on your door (twice!). My youngest brother, Logan, has been at Teen Challenge for about 10 months, in Bonifay, Florida. I cannot say enough good things about their program and their commitment to spread the gospel and challenge young men (and women) to honor God with their lives. My brother was headed down a really dark path this time last year, drugs, alcohol, and a blatant disrespect for my parents. It was hard for them to follow through taking him to the facility, and hard not to be able to see or talk to him regularly. But what amazing things God has done in his life to break him down, only to build him back up in ways we could never imagine. He's still a silly 17 year old, but we are so proud that he is now using his life to honor God. Pray for him as we enter the holidays?...that Logan will be able to do well enough to come home for Christmas this year and finish the program in March of 2013. Thank you Chris, for your small donation to Teen Challenge! It was definitely worth it!
