Where We Are Now

After finding and remediating mold twice in our Colorado home, we abandoned ship in October 2008. Because of the high levels of exposure, our entire family was affected. After months of seeing different specialists for all of the problems, we came to Arizona to begin comprehensive treatment to rid our bodies of the toxic buildup. In August 2009 we moved into a larger home, four bedrooms, south of Tucson, north of Mexico. I am doing my daily radio program/ writing from that location. Thanks for praying for us. We really feel it.

This will be the most fun I have with a blog all year.
Who are these two young lovebirds? Cary Grant and Ida Lupino? Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed? No, it's my dear old Mumsy and Popsy. You see, they were married on March 16, 1950 in California. My mother was in the Navy and my father stalked her all the way from West Virginia.

They were married and returned to West Virginia and he began working at Union Carbide and farming on the side and she worked at a bank in Huntington, WV. Soon, there was another little mouth to feed, my older brother John, so...I can't recall if she let some wolves take care of him or if he stayed home alone. Either way, two years later my other brother happened to drop out of the sky and it was two against two. I believe during this time they lived beside my grandfather's farm in Culloden, WV, within sight of the Interstate. Times were hard and they scraped by trading baseball cards and eating ramps, until I came along in 1961. That changed everything. It was prosperity all around! People flocked to see this little bundle of joy and paid admittance to hear me laugh until milk came out my nose.

Here is a picture of them recently, some 60 years since the picture above. Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed eat your hearts out.

My sister-in-law, Kim, snapped the shot below as they walked through a nearby graveyard of many of our kin last Memorial Day. We're sure blessed to have had the longevity of their marriage and lives. May Robert and Kathryn Fabry enjoy many more years of wedded bliss!

(Visit the Audio Flashbacks page on my website to hear an on-air conversation with my mom from days of yore. Believe me, it's a hoot.)

Those three boys turned out to be fine men and are Robert and Kathryn's pride and joy. And, by the way, don't people still pay money to see you laugh until milk comes out of your nose?

I have not had a "milk out my nose" paying gig in quite a while. I do that mainly for charity now.

Chris,
This is such a blessing to hear and see. Both of mine have past away and I miss them every day.

You are Blessed!

Always happy to see a marriage lasting a long time and hope I could have that too someday. :)

Enjoyed hearing your mom. I laughed out loud when she said she was incarcerated. My mom is 70 and still chops wood (with her wood splitter). May your mom and dad have a fabulous sixieth anniversary.
This is from your Slocomb AL connection who now lives in GA.

It is such a great way of honoring your Parents and the example they are living out. I congratulate you on your doing it and trust that they appreciate it very much.

About those "drop the glove" moments for people in ones life, I would want to say people should appreciate them more, because they get less as your children get older. Loved the way you ended this program, made me running for the Lord!!!

Finally, Chris I have seen a picture that looks like your voice. It is your dad when he was young. Thank you for that. Your voice laughs just like that glorious smile on your dad's face.

you have got to expound further on "eating ramps"???

Plugger,
You probably know this but "Ramps" is a WV delicacy. It's a root that grows out in the woods. People cook it different ways but it always smells like old shoes. My guess is it's like Possum. You eat it because that's all you have, and then you get used to it and crave it. I've actually never tried them before but with the way things are going, I probably will.
