Where We Are Now
After finding and remediating mold twice in our Colorado home, we abandoned ship in October 2008. Because of the high levels of exposure, our entire family was affected. After months of seeing different specialists for all of the problems, we came to Arizona to begin comprehensive treatment to rid our bodies of the toxic buildup. In August 2009 we moved into a larger home, four bedrooms, south of Tucson, north of Mexico. I am doing my daily radio program/ writing from that location. Thanks for praying for us. We really feel it.

Through a promotion with Tyndale House Publishers, Amazon.com is offering Almost Heaven free for the Kindle for a limited time. Just click here and it's yours for the checking out.
I don’t own a Kindle, but I downloaded the Kindle software free from Amazon which means I can read my own book for nothing! If you have a computer and can get to the Internet and if you like free things, this is a no-brainer. Just go to Amazon.com, click on Kindle on the left side, then “Download free reading apps.” It’s a great way to get Almost Heaven. And did I mention it’s free?
Maybe I can get them to write my next book so I don’t have to do anything.

Love the idea of "free", however, I have decided that there is no replacement for the smell, feel, sight, of a real, honest-to-goodness book! You can't used a treasured bookmark in a Kindle, or sign your initials as favorite book passes around the family. So, Chris, you'll be happy to know that I have ordered your new book "Almost Heaven" and can't wait until it arrives! Oh my gosh, I hope my family doesn't buy me a Kindle for Christmas!! :)
Nancy,
I think I'm with you. I love the feel of a book and turning pages. Nothing will ever replace that.

Chris...I was one who downloaded your book at Amazon, and I have to say, I'm blown away. Your writing is beautiful, and the story just catches me somewhere deep inside.
Partly it's because you're a gifted writer, but also because my dad was a huge fan of bluegrass music and the songs you mention are ones I grew up on. :)
I'm not through with the book, but almost. Thanks for sharing such a sweet story. And have a wonderful thanksgiving.
Btw, we have lots of kids too---I also don't know how that happened!
Wow, I just finished reading Almost Heaven (on my kindle) for free. What a wonderful novel...I couldn't put it down. Truly inspiring. I was born in Boone County, WV (just next to Logan County) and had some family that was around during the Buffalo Creek disaster. I wasn't born yet, and had no idea the severity of it. It was nice to learn more about what happened and remember those that were lost. Thank you for this book and for opening up my eyes.
I am hoping to follow in your footsteps, and to pull out some inspiration from your fictional character Billy, to continue my life course the right way. Also, hope to follow your lead and one day write my first fiction novel. Maybe I'll have to base it in WV (even though I left physically....you never really fully leave those hollers behind). Thanks again.
